Stella began her education journey in Germany where she completed an intensive 5-year training program to become a state-certified educator from the Academy of Social Pedagogy.
Initially motivated by working with youth experiencing behaviour difficulties, Stella committed to a journey abroad. First, she completed 2 years of working with teens on the autism spectrum as a professional AuPair in the US to improve her English while staying connected to her field. Stella then moved to BC to study psychology, completing her B.A., and is now completing her Master’s of Science in cellular and developmental biology at the University of British Columbia. Her research of the past 6 years focused on the biopsychosocial determinants of health, student wellbeing, and the molecular mechanism of learning and memory.
Stella brings a wide range of expertise from application to theory, but also from a very personal connection to neurodiversity. At the beginning of her master’s degree, she was diagnosed with adult ADHD which sparked her mission to refocus her knowledge to address her own obstacles.
Juggling her own symptoms with the reality of the academic system made her realize how much her knowledge of the brain and background in education had helped her, but also how much she would have benefited from having a coach to advocate for her when faced with adversity. Now, Stella is determined to take on this role for others by joining Kaizen’s mission of empowering other beautiful brains. Stella learned to love her unique mind and to embrace her gifts. She believes that everyone has the ability to turn their weaknesses into superpowers!
When not busy with listening to audiobooks on personal development strategies, Stella enjoys being in nature, water colouring, and cuddling with her cat. She is a passionate horseback riding instructor and likes to balance her cognitive demanding career with creative outlets. You can find her singing to musicals, playing guitar, or dancing in the living room.
