It started with a pattern nobody was naming.

These kids were being called lazy, unmotivated, difficult. Working one on one with them showed me the overwhelming majority were bright and capable. What was holding them back was a missing set of skills, and skills can be taught.”

~ Samantha Woods
Founder, Kaizen Education Services Inc.

Samantha spent years in classrooms watching that story repeat: a bright kid, a stack of report cards saying “not applying themselves,” and a family exhausted from trying everything. The problem was almost never effort. It was executive function: the brain-based skills that let a person plan, focus, organize, and follow through, which school assumes but never teaches.

In 2013 she founded Kaizen Education Services in Calgary to coach those skills directly, pairing strengths-first cognitive assessment with one on one coaching by experienced educators. The name is the method: kaizen, continuous improvement, small changes compounded.

What began with children and teens now spans parents, students, and adults. Kaizen started as an ADHD coaching company, and the methods proven on the brains that needed the most support are exactly why our coaching works for every brain today, diagnosed or not. No diagnosis is required, and none is ever made here. Read the full story on What We Coach.
