How Executive Function Coaching Works

Whether you’re looking for support for your child or for yourself, we’ll help you understand the options and choose a starting point that fits. The first step is a free consultation. What happens next depends on the program.

Start with a conversation

Tell us what’s been difficult and what you’d like to change. That might be getting homework started, making family routines more manageable, or keeping up with work and everyday responsibilities.

Your free consultation is a 30-minute video call. We’ll explain the support available, talk through costs and answer your questions. It’s a conversation about fit, not an assessment or a coaching session. There’s no obligation to continue.

Student coaching: a supported first coaching cycle

If you’re looking for coaching for your child, the Student Foundation Program brings intake, assessment and coaching into one starting program. If you’re a student looking for support yourself, you’re welcome to get in touch too.

  1. Share what’s happening. Complete the intake survey and parent assessment, then join a 30-minute Learning Specialist Intake. Parents and students attend together; older students may attend on their own.
  2. Start working with your coach. The program includes five 60-minute private coaching sessions, completed within eight weeks of the first session.
  3. Build a clearer picture. Complete the Student Brain Blueprint with your coach in session 2. Your coaching plan takes shape at intake and is finalized after the Brain Blueprint.
  4. Review progress and next steps. The program includes a detailed Brain Blueprint report, a parent consultation with Founder Samantha Woods and a Standard Session Report after each session. After session five, your coach provides a personalized proposal for what could come next.

Adult coaching: understand your patterns, then build practical support

Adult coaching begins with the Cognitive Architectural Profile, or CAP. It includes an assessment and a one-on-one results review to help you understand your strengths, the patterns getting in your way and what to work on.

If you decide to continue, coaching is tailored to your profile and goals. Sessions are sold in packs of 10. Your consultation is a chance to ask what that could look like for work, study, home or everyday life.

Parent support: choose how you’d like to learn

You can get support for your own parenting without enrolling your child in one-on-one coaching.

  • Parent Leadership Foundations: a self-directed, nine-module course with practical tools to use at home.
  • Parent Leadership Program: personalized assessment and a family plan, with a private debrief and guided group sessions.
  • Parent Leadership Immersion: a private program with deeper assessment, family strategy and ongoing support.

The assessment, format and level of support differ between these options. We’ll help you compare them, including what’s included and what each program costs.

You don’t need a diagnosis to ask for support

We work with students and adults with and without an ADHD diagnosis. Coaching focuses on practical skills and strategies. It doesn’t provide a diagnosis or replace care from your doctor or psychologist.

If you’re in post-secondary education, tell us what you want help with. We’ll talk through the student and adult options with you rather than asking you to choose a program on your own.

What if you are not ready to book a call?

Take a free quiz instead. A few minutes, no charge, and it gives you a concrete starting point rather than a vague worry. Plenty of people do that first and book later.

Frequently asked questions

What happens during a free consultation?

It is a 30 minute video conversation about fit. We explain how brain-based coaching works, ask what you are seeing, and tell you whether Kaizen is the right fit for it. There is no charge, no assessment during the consultation, and no obligation to continue.

Is the free consultation a coaching session?

No. It is there so you can understand how the coaching works and decide whether it suits you. A real example does sometimes come up and we will happily dig into it, but that is not the purpose of the consultation.

When does the assessment happen?

It depends on the program. In the Student Foundation Program, the student completes the Brain Blueprint with their coach in session 2. The coaching plan takes shape at intake and is finalized after the Blueprint. Adults begin with the Cognitive Architectural Profile and a one-on-one results review. Assessment and support differ across the parent programs. We’ll explain the steps for the option you’re considering.

How long before we see a change?

It depends on the profile and the skill. Your coach will tell you what to watch for and by when, and the session reports are how you track it rather than guessing.

Can we do this from outside Alberta?

Yes. Coaching runs by secure video across Canada and the United States. See online coaching.

Can we meet in person?

Yes. In-person sessions run at our Calgary office. Mention it on your free consultation and we will set it up. Everything else about coaching works the same either way.

What does it cost?

Starting and continuation prices are published on our costs page. The options differ for students, adults and parents. Your free consultation is a chance to compare what’s included and what could fit your needs.

Do we need an ADHD diagnosis?

No. No diagnosis is required, and none is ever made here. It works the other way too: if you have already had a psychoeducational assessment, it does not replace ours. They are different tools doing different jobs, and the coaching plan is built on ours.
