Online Executive Function Coaching
Can you get executive function coaching online?
Short answer: yes, you can work with a Kaizen coach from anywhere. Most of our coaching already happens online, by secure video, for kids, teens and adults. Where you live does not decide whether you can work with us. If you are in Calgary and you would rather meet face to face, that option is open too.
For executive function specifically, online coaching is often the better format.
Executive function skills are the ones that fail in real life rather than in a clinic: starting the assignment that is sitting on your own desk, finding the notes in your own binder, getting out the door on your own morning schedule. Online coaching puts your coach in the room where those things actually happen. Your child opens their real backpack on camera. An adult client shares the real inbox they have been avoiding. The session works on the actual problem instead of a description of it.
That is also why our own assessment is delivered online. The Brain Blueprint, which begins every coaching program, is a research-validated cognitive assessment completed from home in about an hour.
Where do you have to live to work with Kaizen?
Nowhere in particular. Coaching is delivered by secure video, so we work with families and adults across Canada and the United States.
Our office is in Calgary and a good share of our clients are here, which is why you will see a Calgary address in our footer. Read that as where we started, not as who we can take.
What does an online session actually look like?
| Online | In person | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Secure video, from home | Our Calgary office, 119 14 St NW, Suite 400 |
| Who it suits | Anyone outside Calgary, busy families, adults fitting coaching around work | Clients local to Calgary who prefer meeting face to face |
| Session length | The same | The same |
| Coach match | From our full team | From coaches available at the office |
| Working on your real materials | Yes, your own desk and your own systems, on camera | Brought with you |
| Session reports after each session | Yes | Yes |
Everything else is identical. Online is not the reduced version of the program. It is the version most of our clients choose.
Who this works for
Kids, teens, and adults. No diagnosis is required, and none is ever made here.
The question we are asked most about online coaching is whether it works for a brain that struggles to sit still or hold attention. It is a fair question, and it is the one we have the most practice with. Kaizen started as an ADHD coaching company, and it still is one. ADHD is a significant deficit in one or more executive function skills, which is why coaching those exact skills works when willpower and consequences do not.
It is also why the format suits the work. The skills have to transfer to a real desk and a real routine, and online sessions already happen there. Over more than a decade of working with the brains that needed the most support, the same methods turned out to build planning, focus and follow-through in any brain. So today we coach all brains: diagnosed or not, struggling or simply not yet reaching their potential.
Kaizen coaching supports, and does not replace, care from your doctor or psychologist.
What do you need to take part?
Very little. A laptop or tablet with a camera, a reasonably quiet spot, and an internet connection good enough for a video call. For younger children a parent nearby at the start and end of the session helps, and your coach will tell you when that matters and when it is better to give them room.
Is in-person coaching still available in Calgary?
Yes. In-person sessions run out of our Calgary office and nothing about the program changes. If you are local and unsure which to choose, raise it on your free consultation and we will give you a straight recommendation based on what you are trying to fix.
How do you start?
The same way for everyone, wherever you are:
- Book a free 30 minute consultation by video. It is a conversation about fit, not a coaching session and not an assessment.
- If it is a fit, we start with the assessment, then build the plan around what it shows.

If you would rather get a clearer sense of what is going on before you talk to anyone, our free quizzes take a few minutes and give you a useful starting point.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work with clients outside Alberta?
Yes. Coaching is delivered by secure video, so we work with clients across Canada and the United States. The Calgary address is our office, not a limit on who we coach.
Is online coaching as effective as in person?
For executive function work we find it holds up well, and the reason is practical rather than technological: the skills have to transfer to your real desk, your real materials and your real routine, and online sessions happen right there. In-person sessions remain available in Calgary for clients who prefer them.
What platform do you use?
Sessions run over secure video. Your free consultation is held over Zoom, and you get the link when you book.
Can we switch between online and in person?
If you are in Calgary, yes. Talk to your coach.
Does insurance cover online sessions?
Coverage depends on your plan rather than on the format. Many extended health plans include psychology services coverage, and because Kaizen’s programming is overseen by a registered psychologist, sessions can often be submitted under that category, with no diagnosis required. See our funding guides for families and for adults.
How soon can we start?
Consultations can be booked from the next day out to about a month ahead. Pick the slot that suits you and it confirms straight away.
Does online coaching work for ADHD?
It is the question we are asked most, and ADHD is the work Kaizen started with. No diagnosis is required, and none is ever made here. If you are not sure the format is right, say so on your free consultation and we will give you a straight answer rather than sign you up for something that will not truly benefit you or your family.
