Stephanie has always been passionate about learning and pursued a career as a secondary teacher after completing her undergraduate degrees in General Mathematics and Economics. She studied Education specializing in Secondary Mathematics at the University of British Columbia and has since shared her love/nerdiness of math and science with student. Over the past ten years, Stephanie has been an educator in both rural and urban communities and learning from students with a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, learning, and language backgrounds.
The experiences Stephanie has had working with such diverse communities has cemented her philosophy of the prioritization of learning how to learn followed by curricular concepts. She is a huge advocate for exploring learning styles, experimenting with strategies, personalizing learning experiences, and doing so with excitement and colour coordination.
The most important factor that drives Stephanie when working with learners is building a genuine supportive relationship. By understanding the student as a whole, Stephanie is able to identify a student’s strengths and leverage them building approaches and environment which improve a learner’s abilities, self-awareness, self-advocacy, and most importantly, self-confidence. Her goal is to ensure each client is working toward achieving their goals and gaining independence in the process.
