Jamie Beauchamp is a passionate learner, advocate, and catalyst for change. His passion for learning, creativity, and desire to help people stems from a unique background transcending multiple industries including social work, glass blowing, and carpentry, eventually leading him to education and to his current role as a high school principal.
As an educator, Jamie is guided by the philosophy that all students can thrive when motivated by a personal love of learning fostered by a growth mindset. Jamie works with students every day to change perspectives, remove self-limiting beliefs, and to find success through a holistic approach that has personal wellness at its core. Jamie is well aware that mental health and learning are deeply entangled and therefore strategies to improve learning must also address any mental health struggles that may create barriers to learning. Through positive relationships and an understanding of mental health, Jamie supports students to combine wellness practices with learning strategies to produce happier, more successful students.
As a high school principal, Jamie is involved in all aspects of learning, from assessing needs, developing plans to meet those needs, and communicating with students and their families. Although all of this plays an important role in student success, Jamie realizes that the “real magic” happens when he can work one-on-one with a student to help them understand how their brain works, develop a plan to be more successful, and collaboratively see the light at the end of the tunnel finding empowerment and ease. These a-ha moments are why Jamie became an educator.
Jamie also has a deep love and connection to nature and can be found recharging his batteries in the great outdoors. His love of nature resulted in Jamie earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology before pursuing his Education degrees, holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s because of his desire to connect with and help youth.
